Let the ‘count-down’ commence

August 22, 2008

It won’t be much longer before September…, autumn…; the season when nature begins to change it’s canopy; and some of the great carnivores begin to fatten up in prepararation for winter hibernation. Kind of like saving for a “rainy day,” Or being “penny wise” rather than “pound foolish.”

Brings to mind the words of the wisest man that ever lived, {King Solomon}[1 Kings 3:5-12]; who said:

“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazy fellow. Learn from their ways and be wise! For though they have no king to make them work, yet they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.” [Prov 6:6-8]TLB

As much as the Lord has permitted, I have spent this summer, of my pending retirement, in preparaton for the harvest to come in the fall and winter. Sowing seeds of prosperity and abundance.

As I move forward, in my walk-away-from-work, I am learning the value of some significant life lessons; like: “Give generously {ie. invest all of your sincere energies into others success}, for your gifts {ie. investment} will return to you later{ie. in the fullness of time}.”[Ecc 11:1]TLB ..the words of King Solomon again. In other words: “Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. (and) Whatever measure you use to give — (it) will be used to measure what is given back to you.” [Lk 6:38]TLB …the words of the Lord, Jesus Christ.  After all, it has been said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” [Acts 20:35]KJV …words also of the Lord Jesus.

Well, I would be negligent and selfish, indeed, if I didn’t share with you the wellspring of my hope, and focus; at this critical juncture in the ‘count-down’ toward a “new” vocational horizon.

It is going to be an indescribable moment when I walk-away-from-work with a residual/pension income; and a farewell BONUS check besides.

What a way to “fire your boss!”

God is GOOD!

Turning the corner

August 8, 2008

Lots of positive development, on the ”retirement” scene, since our last visit.

A “buy out” option has been added to the menu of choices ,on the job; which will serve to fill in the 4th quarter salary void; along with the meager pension, mentioned before, making for a much softer financial landing, and a definite “bridge over troubled water” (into 2009) after walking away from work.

The timing couldn’t have been better; and I am still reveling in my new found good fortune, while clearly recognizing the operating dynamic of the “favor” of God, and giving Him thanks “for all things.”

In the midst of economic turmoil I find myself charting a course toward a recession proof harbor.

Approaching a 40-day count down to departure is frightening and invigorating at the same time.

Having generated millions of dollars of revenue for my employer, during my tenure,  has certainly conditioned  me to expect to achieve excellent results;  when I find myself in an opportune environment.

Hence moving on in life, vocationally, intellectually, and spiritually is, as always, like the dawning of a ‘new’ day.

So, in the Olympic spirit, allow me to say: “Let the games begin!”
