Having been a business owner for 20 plus years, I have lived on the hopes and hard work that every self employed individual lives on. Being a business owner, your salary comes last, behind all other expenses. As our economy has gone, in the past few years; so also have the savings. One really does have to learn to live on less; and try desperately not to go overboard in credit card debt. On the bright side, I have become a stronger person because of my trials. Thanks for your input, C Ehrenkrantz. You know service to the elderly is a noble, and rewarding profession. Which brings to mind a thought sparked by an MSN Money article, the other day [How to retire on $12,000 a year]. The concept was the “economics of shared living” where two or more seniors pool their meager resources and give themselves a little more after cost income. Then they could afford your excellent services to make their lives more enjoyable.

I have been the owner of a care service for seniors, for over 20 years. All I want to say is age is just a number. Do not let your age depress you. I am over 62, and I am the most active I have been in my entire life; and do not look my age.
My suggestion is to stay active; whether working out, as in exercising, or finding a good volunteer outlet. Charities always need volunteers. Don’t become like one of my clients that walks the floor at night, lonely for conversation; so she calls one of those chat lines and talks the night away, at $2.00 a minute. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not the kind of senior life you want.
There is so much more to do in this great country of ours. Good Luck!
